Deposits and Refunds

Our Deposit and Refund Policy explains the rationale for the requirement for a refundable deposit for complimentary photoshoots from persons who have not previously attended a photoshoot, and in what circumstances the deposit is returned.

Deposits for Free Photoshoots

Rationale

Richard’s Photography currently offers free photoshoots to members of the transgender community. Previously, models booking paid photoshoots were required to pay a deposit as part of the booking. When offering complimentary shoots, the requirement for a deposit was rescinded. However, there have been several recent incidences in which people make bookings and either cancel at the last moment or stop replying to messages (and ‘disappear’) as the appointment approaches. This blocks photoshoot bookings for genuine clients and also disrupts Richard’s diary.
Consequently, a refundable deposit is being introduced for models who wish to make a booking and who have not previously attended a photoshoot with Richard. The amount will be refunded at the shoot, minus a small administration fee to cover bank charges.

Deposit

A £60 deposit is required to confirm a booking. On attendance at the arranged photoshoot, this will be returned minus a £5 administrative charge.

Cancellation by Richard’s Photography

If we need to cancel, the deposit will be returned in full (no administrative charges).

Cancellation by Client

If the client cancels, the following refunds will be given:

  • Two weeks’ notice of cancellation: full refund minus £5 administration charge or option to rebook to a mutually agreeable date.
  • One week’s notice (but less than two weeks’ notice): 50% refund minus £5 administration charge or option to rebook to a mutually agreeable date.
  • Three days’ notice (but less than one week’s notice): the option to rebook to a mutually agreeable date or loss of deposit.
  • The option to rebook only applies to the first request to rebook, not subsequent requests. When a photoshoot is rearranged for another date at the client’s request, any further changes will result in a loss of deposit in full, regardless of the notice given.
  • A day is a full day; for example, if a photoshoot is arranged for 10 am on a Wednesday, the photoshoot must be cancelled by 10 am on the Sunday before (three days in advance).
  • A week is a full week; for example, if a photoshoot is arranged for Wednesday, the photoshoot must be cancelled by Tuesday of the previous week.

Failure to Attend

If a client fails to attend without any notice, the deposit is forfeited in full. Future bookings will be declined (unless there are exceptional reasons for which evidence can be produced).
