Jessica and I have been watching the new Channel 4 series 'Tip Toe' set in Manchester and heavily based in the gay district on Canal Street. Although fictional, the narrative includes the challenges, discrimination and hatred that are directed at the LGBT community that many of us can relate to. This is especially true for the transgender community, who are feeling sidelined and ostracised by recent decisions by the Supreme Court and in government.
It is increasingly important to stand up, show that the discrimination we experience is totally unjustified, and challenge the current trajectories against us and the rolling back of rights. In this context, we'd encourage you to attend at least one Pride event!
Jessica and I will be attending Pride Cymru in Cardiff next weekend (which also coincides with her birthday, so a double celebration).
At the end of the month, we'll both be at Sparkle in Manchester (in the same area as 'Tip Toe' was filmed). We'll be running a photography studio in Sackville Gardens, with the proceeds from photography donated to Sparkle funds. If you are there, please come along, find us, and have your picture taken.
