On the last Sunday in May, Richard held his annual charity fundraiser, a garden party at his home in rural Kent. Over twenty guests attended and donated a magnificent £650 to the transgender charity Sparkle.

Cindi and Amy took on their now-traditional roles on the BBQ and pizza oven, respectively, serving a wonderful assortment of barbecue and pizzas. Holly kindly baked three cakes, including an excellent cake decorated with the transgender flag. And Nicola organised a quiz: two rounds, the first being guess the animal's bottom and the second being to find objects around the garden.
Sparkle, The National Transgender Charity, is a 20-year-old, volunteer-led registered UK charity. Our reach extends to people who identify as transgender, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming, their partners, families, friends, and the wider society they are part of. Sparkle is run by a team of dedicated and passionate volunteers, over 85% of whom identify as trans, non-binary, or gender-variant. In 2025, our volunteers logged a whopping 16,020 hours! The Sparkle Weekend - a one-of-a-kind celebration of the magic of gender diversity and the joy of being trans! It is key in spreading the love by boosting trans visibility and spreading joy in the community.
Richard will support the Sparkle event at the end of June by taking photos to raise additional funds for the charity. As part of the garden party, Richard set up his gazebo, lighting, backdrops and camera to test everything out and identify any problems in advance. Here are some samples.
