This is an outline of the typical steps taken by Richard when processing an image from a photoshoot. Not all these steps will apply to every image, and they may be undertaken in a different order depending on the type and composition of the photograph.
Please remember that how the images appear will depend on your device's settings, such as screen brightness.
Software is used to correct camera distortions and to remove digital noise. (Digital noise is the grainy effect, often associated with taking photos in low light conditions.)
The image may be cropped to give a more peased result. Images may also need adjusting to correct angles and distortion in the photo.
Unwanted objects (such as lighting) are removed from the image, and if a backdrop doesn't fill the image, it is enlarged to remove items behind it.
A backdrop may be smoothed to remove creases or to give a more pleasing effect.
Editing is used to correct minor posing mistakes (for example, slouching), tidy up skin blemishes and remove unsightly creases. Lighting may also be adjusted to help create a more three-dimensional look to the image.
The face is examined in detail, and the image is enhanced to show off the makeup, eyes, lips and remove blemishes. The lighting is also adjusted across the face (by adding highlights and shadows) to give a more impactive three-dimensional look.
A profile is applied to the image to give the photograph a certain look and bring out details where needed.
Colours are made to pop, and any final adjustments to bring the different steps together are applied.
